I've been a patient with Woodlands Family Practice since 1985. As others have stated, the office staff, nurses and doctors have been great over these 40+ years. Dr. Mabry's retirement was a shock at the time but having Dr. Niemeyer in his place has been a blessing.

DO NOT BECOME A NEW PATIENT HERE. Dr. Powellson is the WORST experience I have ever had with a physician, in any capacity or context-including prison, in all of my life. I'm 52. Dr. Powellson was in NO way friendly, welcoming, comforting, or helpful. He was, instead;rude, argumentative, interrupting, judgemental, cold, and dismissive. He was entirely focused on my mental health diagnosis-which was NOT why I was there-and treated my physical health, as well as some important concerns I tried to communicate, as an afterthought. The room was cold, sterile, uncomfortable, and so is Dr. Powellson. I was immediately put off and defensive with his demeanor, and his lack of focus on my physical health rather than my mental- he seemed to form an opinion when I told him my diagnosis- was confusing and frustrating. I felt judged, as though Dr Powellson has a bias about people with BPD. I have a lump in my andoman and another on my pelvis, and he NEVER EVEN SAW THEM. He NEVER ASKED about it after I mentioned it.The building and the lobby made me want to turn around as soon as I got there, and Dr. Powellson made me so uncomfortable; feeling judged and argued with, and frustrated, that I walked

Dr. Yao has been our family doctor since we moved to the Conroe/Woodlands area, and we couldn’t ask for better care. He is incredibly personable, takes his time with every visit, and truly listens. You never feel rushed—he genuinely cares about how you’re doing and makes sure all your concerns are addressed. The entire office staff is just as wonderful. From the moment you walk in, everyone is friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Susie—she is amazing! I’m not great with needles, but she makes the experience so easy and comfortable every time. If you’re looking for a doctor who is knowledgeable, attentive, and truly cares about his patients, I highly recommend Dr. Yao and his team.

My wife and I have been patients at Woodlands Family Practice since 2009, under the care of Dr Philbert Yau. Dr Yau has always treated us with respect, patience and kindness, and been ready to share his considerable medical knowledge with us. He has provided sound medical advice and guidance over the years, that have contributed to our enjoying an active and healthy lifestyle in our senior years. The nurses and administrative staff are always friendly, caring, knowledgeable, and very helpful in getting us appointments even when schedules are tight. Overall, it is very comforting to have Woodlands Family Practice as our primary caregiver.

I have been going to this practice ever since I moved to the area in 1986! I have been through “my” Dr. retiring, becoming a patient to the “newbie” and now that newbie is the Senior Dr on staff! As my family grew, each became a patient of Dr. Yau’s. I have never had a bad experience in all my years there. Susan is an excellent nurse and never fails to make me feel better when she is talking care of me. I have complete confidence in The Woodlands Family Practice and I would, and do, recommend them to my family and friends.
